Algebra Difficulty 1.9 Junior Find the answer

If 12n+14n=312\frac{1}{2n} + \frac{1}{4n} = \frac{3}{12}, what is the value of nn?

A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.

Solution

Since 12n+14n=24n+14n=34n\frac{1}{2n} + \frac{1}{4n} = \frac{2}{4n} + \frac{1}{4n} = \frac{3}{4n}, then the given equation becomes 34n=312\frac{3}{4n} = \frac{3}{12} or 4n=124n = 12. Thus, n=3n = 3.
