Maths Olympiad Prep

Placement test

Find the point where training should begin.

Starting too low wastes months. Starting too high teaches you almost nothing. These twelve questions adjust as you go — right and the next is harder, wrong and it eases off — and estimate the stage where the mathematics should start to stretch you.

Before you begin

  • You'll need pen and paper. These are problems, not mental arithmetic.
  • Every question has a short answer: a number, a fraction or an expression.
  • There is no clock. Give a hard one a real attempt, but if ten minutes pass with no way forward, move on.
  • Your result stays in this browser unless you choose to create an account.
