The value of 12+24+48+816 \frac{1}{2} + \frac{2}{4} + \frac{4}{8} + \frac{8}{16} is what?

Solution

In the given sum, each of the four fractions is equivalent to 12 \frac{1}{2} . Therefore, the given sum is equal to 12+12+12+12=2 \frac{1}{2} + \frac{1}{2} + \frac{1}{2} + \frac{1}{2} = 2 .
