Geometry Difficulty 4.7 AIME Prove it Ukraine

Cut right triangle with one angle 3030^\circ into three pairwise distinct isosceles triangles so that each has a non acute angle.

Solution

We can cut ABC\triangle ABC with BAC=30\angle BAC = 30^\circ into triangles as shown in Fig. 25.

Here BC=CDBC = CD and DBC\triangle DBC is isosceles with right angle. Then BN=MDBN = MD and DBM\triangle DBM is isosceles with angle DMB=150\angle DMB = 150^\circ. Thus DMA=30\angle DMA = 30^\circ, ADM\triangle ADM is isosceles with ADM=120\angle ADM = 120^\circ.
